Citrus 'Valencia'
Valencia Citrus, Citrus sinensis 'Valencia'
Mornings would not be the same without juices, like orange or grapefruit, from citrus trees. And summers without lemonade? These shrubby trees produce edible tropical fruits. They have thorny stems and fragrant white flowers that attract bees. Grow in warm climates outdoors or in containers brought in during winter. All types need citrus fertilizer, which has supplemental amounts of iron, magnesium and zinc. Ornamental and dwarf varieties are available. Protect from strong winds and frost. |

This tasty but seeded orange is used in commercial orange juice. Needs less heat than Naval orange to develop full flavor and matures later in summer. Fruit sweetens with age.
