Citrus reticulata

Tangerine, Mandarine Orange, Clementine

Mornings would not be the same without juices, like orange or grapefruit, from citrus trees. And summers without lemonade? These shrubby trees produce edible tropical fruits. They have thorny stems and fragrant white flowers that attract bees. Grow in warm climates outdoors or in containers brought in during winter. All types need citrus fertilizer, which has supplemental amounts of iron, magnesium and zinc. Ornamental and dwarf varieties are available. Protect from strong winds and frost.

Hardy to 20° F, there are many varieties of Tangerine. Their ripe, sweet, aromatic fruit is yellow-orange to flame-orange. All need high summer heat for the best fruit flavor.
