Tough and hardy, Spiraea tolerate sun or light shade and many different soil types as long as drainage is good. It is a large genus of shrubs with showy white, pink, or rosy-red flowers. Prune spring-blooming species during or just after flowering. Prune summer-flowering species from late winter into early spring. Deadhead old flowers to extend blooming.

Deciduous, 4 feet tall and wide shrub is covered with double white flowers in early summer. The bluish green leaves hold their color until late in season and turn red in fall.
